Hydrofluoric Acid 40%

Gaseous Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) is produced in externally heated rotary kilns from the endothermic reaction of dried acid grade fluorspar (CaF2) and sulphuric acid (H2SO4). The heat of the reaction is obtained by the combustion of fuel oil.

Beside the HF directly used for the production of aluminium fluoride (AlF3) and synthetic cryolite (Na3AlF6), Fluorsid sells some diluted HF (40% solution) for minor chemical applications, which is transported in bulk on tankers.

Fluorsid operates five horizontal rotary kilns, with a production capacity of about 65,000 MT/y.
