Corporate Social Responsibility

As part of its corporate social responsibility, over the years Fluorsid has developed a constant collaboration with ICEI ( for the execution of cooperation and development programs: first in Congo with the implementation of an INTER Campus in Kinshasa and now in Mozambique to assist rural communities in Nampula.

Mozambique is among the poorest countries in the world: the literacy rate is around 50%, while 57% of the population has no access to drinking water. The health network is unable to cope with the spread of malaria, HIV (over 16% of the population is affected), and other serious diseases such as yellow fever, typhoid and hepatitis.

Since 2012, ICEI and Fluorsid, in nine villages of the province of Nampula, are committed to promoting a rural development model that integrates organic farming, livestock, agro-food processing activities and improvement of health conditions.

In the villages of the Nacala district, 500 plots and family gardens have been created with the involvement of 160 families. These families were able to improve the self-production of food and had access to a more balanced and varied diet.

From a health perspective, thanks to the project, health facilities available to the entire population are being constructed. These facilities are a key element to prevent the spread of various infections. Moreover, information activities are carried out in order to guarantee the project feasibility.

For the same reason, ICEI and Fluorsid ensure (a) training programs to farmers and other operators regarding organic agriculture and management of micro-enterprises and (b) marketing support both for the local market and for the fair and solidarity trade with Italian and European markets.
